Happily Ever After Children's Literature Festival
I developed this event to raise money for families adopting kids with special needs. I invited local children's authors to set up tables and sell their books. I also had a children's book publisher and a storyteller, writing activities, story-themed cupcakes and refreshments, a storybook photo booth, crafts and face-painting. We raised money that went toward one particular family's adoption and every presenter (author, storyteller, publisher) said they would come again.
Skills I utilized were organizing, recruiting (authors and volunteers, marketing (press releases, fliers, community calendars, social media and more), budgeting, delegating tasks, making sure everyone was assigned a place to work or sell and that they were fed and comfortable during the event.
