Cindy Sawyer, Marketing Specialist
In my marketing efforts for fundraisers, I leverage a comprehensive range of assets and strategies to maximize impact and reach. This includes designing visually appealing invitations, gathering powerful testimonials, and orchestrating coordinated social media and newsletter campaigns. Incorporating video content adds a dynamic element to the campaign, further engaging the audience. Each component is meticulously crafted and strategically utilized to create a compelling narrative that resonates with potential donors, driving them to support the cause and contribute to its success.

CAPS Auction: Sharing the Vision

CAPS' annual auction was a fundraiser supporting the vital work of the organization in our community. As the designer of the auction book, I collaborated with various sources to curate content and develop a design that would captivate our audience. I also crafted messaging and graphics for social media, our website, and mailed invitations, ensuring a cohesive and compelling narrative across all platforms.

One of the highlights of this project was having the privilege to interview one of our clients who generously shared her story of transformation through the Healthy Families program. The emotional impact of her journey, from struggle to strength, was captured in a video presentation that was shared at the auction. This powerful testament to the difference CAPS makes in the lives of families in our community was a poignant reminder to donors of the significant impact their contributions have. It was an honor to play a role in sharing this story and contributing to the success of the auction. (If you're interested in viewing this video, please contact me.)

Cappy: Bringing CAPS' Mascot to Life

Before my arrival at CAPS, there had been discussions and a few preliminary sketches concerning the introduction of a bear mascot to represent the organization. The primary goal of having a mascot was to embody and amplify CAPS' approachability and foster a deeper connection with the community it serves. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, the project was put on hold.

Recognizing the potential impact a mascot could have in furthering CAPS' mission and presence within the community, I spoke with the leadership team and was granted permission to revive the mascot initiative. One of my first actions was to actively seek funding to bring our mascot to life in the form of a giant bear costume.

With the South Bend Cubs mascot, Stu, already a prominent figure in the community, it was crucial that our bear mascot be given unique characteristics to distinguish the two. To achieve this, we decided to add glasses and freckles to our bear's design, creating a distinctive and endearing character we named Cappy.

Cappy made his grand debut at the CAPS 2019 Superhero 5K, charming attendees and adding a fun, approachable element to the event. Another highlight of Cappy's introduction to the community was his interaction with Stu during a South Bend Cubs game, where CAPS staff had been invited to attend. This engaging encounter not only solidified Cappy's presence in the community but also underscored CAPS' commitment to being a friendly, approachable organization dedicated to preventing child abuse
