July is National Ice Cream Month! So let's celebrate with a tastey ice cream adventure!

Imagine you and your friends are on a mission to create the biggest, most delicious ice cream sundae ever! Start with a mountain of your favorite ice cream flavors, then pile on the toppings: sprinkles, chocolate sauce, gummy bears, and more! What wild and wacky ingredients do you add? Describe your epic sundae adventure and the fun you have making it together!

Idea Generator
Here are some questions if you need some ideas for your story:

  1. "Who would you invite to your sundae-making party, and what role would each person play in creating the epic treat?"
  2. "What's the wackiest topping you can imagine adding to your giant ice cream sundae, and why would you choose it?"
  3. "If your ice cream sundae came to life, what kind of personality would it have, and what adventures would you go on together?"
  4. "Describe the first bite of your ultimate ice cream sundae. How does it taste, and what makes it special?"
  5. "Imagine your sundae has a magical ingredient that gives you superpowers. What powers do you gain, and how do you use them?"

Now get ready to sprinkle in some family fun! First, take turns sharing your stories, and then dive into one of these exciting adventures while enjoying some delicious ice cream.

Craft Ideas
  1. Create a giant ice cream cone out of paper plates. Color each plate in a different "flavor." Create a cone out of brown construction paper or poster board. Add cotton balls for whipped cream, glitter for sprinkles, and whatever else you can find.
  2. Use  foam sheets  to cut out a cone and “scoops” of ice cream. Glue them on top of each other. Create toppings with puffy paint, pom-poms, buttons, and anything else your heart desires.

Activities
  1. Designate one person to pick out several different flavors of ice cream, but don't peek! Take turns tasting and trying to guess the flavors. Then vote on which one is the best.
  2. Surprise someone (a friend, neighbor, sibling, parent, grandparent, etc.) with an ice cream treat.
  3. Read some books about ice cream. Here are just a few of the many that are out there:
    1. Pete the Cat: Scream for Ice Cream by James and Kimberly Dean
    2. Ice Cream: The Full Scoop by Gail Gibbons
    3. Is this Your Favorite Ice Cream? By Ryan Rucker
    4. The Ice Cream Man by Glenda Armand and Kim Freeman
Fun Foods
I don’t think I need to give you any ideas here! But can you say “ice cream bar?"
