CAPS Annual Report 2019: Soaring to New Heights

Creating the annual reports  for CAPS involved three primary steps: data collection, content creation, and design. I first gathered essential information from various departments, ensuring accuracy and completeness of program outcomes, financials, and other metrics. Next, I crafted a narrative that highlighted CAPS's accomplishments and dedication to preventing child abuse, crafted specifically with our shareholders in mind. In the design phase, I utilized Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Canva to create a visually appealing report that reflected CAPS's brand identity. Attention was given to layout, typography, and color schemes, while also incorporating charts, graphs, and images to enhance the report's overall impact and effectively communicate CAPS's achievements over the year.

CAPS vs. CPS: Knowing the Difference

Picture

The flyer I created, titled "Comparing Apples to Oranges," was designed to clarify the distinction between CAPS and CPS, as there is often community confusion between the two. Many people mistakenly view CAPS negatively, associating us with CPS and child removal from homes. To address this issue, I crafted a piece that didn't simply state "We're not CPS," but rather outlined the differences between the two organizations in a clear and informative manner, with the goal of correcting this misperception and fostering a more accurate understanding of CAPS' mission and role in the community. I simplified the mission of both organizations, one being prevention and the other intervension.

I created the flyer in both English and Spanish. It soon became popular in the community and even CPS displayed it at their facility.

Print Media: Tailored to Specific Audiences

I created various marketing assets for the different departments at CAPS. For example, I collaborated with Parent Aid often on creating flyers that catered to their evolving needs. Given the diverse demographic they serve, it was essential that the flyers were accessible to their Spanish-speaking audience. To achieve this, I worked with a professional translator, ensuring that the content was accurately and effectively communicated in Spanish. This process required a keen attention to detail and cultural sensitivity to ensure that the message resonated with the intended audience. The result was a set of flyers that not only met Parent Aid's requirements but also successfully reached and served the needs of their Spanish-speaking community members.
